So….Michael’s is having a yarn sale…..things got a little bit out of control. ๐
44 New Skeins of yarn for Tami!! Plus I got some wooden Cabone Rings and some little silver bells!! The bells are because I like them and I want to make a hip belt for belly dancing! The Cabone rings are for a halter top design that is wiggling around in my head right now and I want to make sure I’m ready for when it finds its way onto my hook!
All of my lovely squishy soft skeins are tucked away in my overflow plastic container. I can hear them all calling “Pick me! Pick me!”
I really only went in for the 2 skeins of Impeccable Maroon to finish a blanket for my sister-in-law and this happened.
Okay that’s not true – I knew this would happen. Teehee ๐

โPick me! Pick me!โ – i TOTALLY understand that feeling. haha! enjoy all that fluff and softness ๐

I usually slip a skein or two into my cart when I go to Walmart but when Michael’s is having a yarn sale – I lose my mind! ๐

Oh I’m so jealous!! So much lovely yarn, you must be in heaven. Your caron cakes look like the one I’m using right now to make a star blanket, I loooove the colour combo

I want to just roll around in it!! I love that cake color combo too – no idea yet what I’m going to do with it but it reminded me of a beautiful sunset so I had to have it!! ๐

Oh. My. Gosh! That yarn! Yarn sales are dangerous things. Have fun!

I know right!!!! I really only splurge like this about 3 times a year. The rest of the time it’s just picking up a few skeins here and there – usually because I don’t have enough to finish something. ๐

I need to move to America! Aaaah the yarn, can’t wait to see what you make with all of this!

Ha! I keep thinking that I need to move to the UK! Your towns are so quaint, your yarn looks so much softer and fancier than what I get here. I absolutely am in love with the accents and vocabulary – yeah I’ve found myself exclaiming “Brilliant!” for no good reason. I’m also completely obsessed with the Great British Baking Show – I’ve watched all of the episodes on netflix 3 times already!!! LOL

Haha no the weather is always the same no matter what part of the UK you live in! I will say the countrysides are the best part. Do you get Stylecraft yarn? That’s one of my favourites it’s so soft even the chunky is all cuddly. British bake off is amazing haha its sad how something like baking a cake can be fun to watch, it’s about to change though another channel has bought the rights and all new hosts so not sure if I’ll watch it again lol

No Mary and Paul?!?! Then I’m not going to watch it either! I’ve always had a fascination for ‘across the pond’. My very favorite author is James Herriot! ๐

No mary, pauls gone with the show (where the money is) and the two hosts won’t be going. Sad times! They should go off and go another show. I love james herriot!

How well I know the power of “yarn fumes,” Tami! Do you crochet only, or do you also knit? Just curious. Enjoy!

Yarn fumes! Ha I love it!! I did try knitting but geez those needles, I hate to admit it but I’m a little bit afraid of knitting needles. ๐ I just couldn’t find a groove with it. I have played around a little with Needle Tatting – nothing spectacular but it is almost hypnotic to watch someone tat. Though I suppose that can be said for crochet and knitting too. ๐

I love that you are a whiz with crochet. My daughter, who is a super-knitter but is just becoming more proficient at her crochet technique, likes that in crochet if you have to take it out, there’s only one loop to keep track of … not like in knitting. ๐

I’m sure my love of crochet is mostly a tactile reaction – soft yarn, smooth hook, the lazy loopy stitches, the warmth of the blanket in progress across my lap – Crochet is the ultimate comfort hobby. ๐

I think I am glad we don’t have any that massive sales in here as my whole stash seems to be about the same size with all that you bought this time. ๐ But I am okay with it ๐ beautiful colors.

I think I’m done buying yarn for a little while – I really don’t have anywhere else to put more!! ๐

I tried knitting and kept losing stitches. It was o frustrating I gave the needles to a friend who does knit. Crocheting is definitely less stress.

Holding the needles was very cumbersome to me too, I couldn’t juggle the two after spending a lifetime with just one hook. And the worst that could happen with a hook is maybe a nice bruise but I’m quite certain that I would puncture an important organ if I needed to answer the phone while knitting! ๐

My plastic yarn bin is pink and it is feeling (filling) kinda low. Sadly there is no Micheal’s in my local area. Just Walmart so every one in a while they have yarn on clearance. Also the thrift store I go to has not had any yarn the last two visits there. ๐ฆ

I was starting to panic actually because my overflow yarn bin was empty! I hope you can find your yarn fix soon!!! and I love walmart as a yarn source – the super walmart near me is usually very well stocked and their red heart prices are the cheapest. I wish I had some thrift stores near me! ๐

So this visit was like going to Costco, I see. You’re just going to grab a few things, which you already know isn’t true, and come out with more than just a few things. My son doesn’t believe me anymore that we’re just going in and out! LOL

Yes! There is a lot of eye-rolling in my house when I say I just need to grab a ‘couple’ of skeins of yarn LOL! ๐

I had to store all of this yarn in a bin downstairs – if I left it out where I could see it I would end up burying myself in wips!! ๐

They just looked so lonely in the store! I usually only pick up a few skeins here and there. This madness is reserved for sales (plus I had a little extra cash!) ๐

I think any crocheter (or knitter) totally gets this post! I’m a newbie (to crochet and blogging) and I’m wondering what are your favorite brands of yarn and what’s a good price for a skein?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Thanks for stopping by! I use mostly medium weight acrylic yarn. It is the least expensive and it’s very easy to care for – machine wash/dry. Red Heart is the brand I buy most – usually about $3 a skein. I also like Caron Simply Soft – about the same price but a softer drape and a nice shine. Caron Cakes are very popular too – self striping, lovely color combos in the skein but a few dollars more in price. With Bulky yarns I love Loops & Threads brand Charisma – it’s thick and soft. I always take advantage of sales at craft stores like Michaels. That’s when I stock up. ๐
