Happy 52nd Anniversary to one of my favorite movies of all time – The Sound of Music!
The Sound of Music was released in the United States on April 1, 1965!
To celebrate here is my favorite funny crochet meme of all time!
I know how to solve a problem like Maria – hand her a crochet hook, a pile of yarn and let her have at it making ‘play clothes’ for all those children!!
Thanks for reading!!

This film and bed knobs & broom sticks were my favourite films as a kid!

This is SUCH a great photo caption. And I also love the Sound of Music. I think the seeming chemistry between the two love interests – it gets me every time. I have read the Christopher Plummer scoffs at the movie every chance he gets, but his terrific acting chops make it such a memorable experience. And Julie Andrews as well! My favorite scene: the “Austrian dance” where Capt. Von Trapp and Maria dance to demonstrate to the children. Sizzle! 🙂

Yes I love that scene too! I had read that not only did Christopher Plummer scoff at it, he also refers to it as “The Sound of Mucus”! The garden scene too, when they are on the bench and he asks her to stay, and they declare their love! (swoon)!!

Yeah. I know Plummer hated it, but the only reason it WASN’T horrid was because his acting made it believable. (and Julie Andrews too – but a bad actor in his place would have ruined it!)

Oh my gosh!! I almost forgot – at the Music Festival when his voice cracks while he’s singing Edelweiss!!! Definitely makes me all choked up!!

HaHa! That would make the movie rather longer, I think! In the UK it is kind of a running joke that The Sound of Music is on the BBC every Christmas, it is a bit passé etc etc. I hadn’t seen the film for absolutely years (although I was taken to the cinema to see it as a kid). Anyway, about 4-5 years ago I decided to actually sit and watch it and I loved it! Now it is a seasonal institution.

I didn’t see this movie until I was an adult! I would have loved to see this when I was little. I can imagine myself pretending to be Maria, dancing around in my backyard!! I know it’s a campy film but I just adore every cheesy bit of it!! 😀

Oh yes, I love Doris Day, old musicals with Frank Sinatra or Gene Kelly, Grace Kelly, Cary Grant…and I have done since I was a teenager and it was really NOT cool! Don’t care though!
