Sorry, I couldn’t resist a little bit of wordplay there. I’ve been waiting all year to write that title!! 😀
This month was really a very pleasant one for me. There were so many warm sunny days that I spent most of my time outside with my hook. So there was a lot of crocheting being done, but not so much blogging about it.
My biggest goal for the month was to catch up on reading the blogs I follow. And…… I did!!! That might not seem like such a big deal but I have added at least a dozen more projects to my very long “Oh I gotta make that” list.
I’ve already shown you what I’ve been working on in two WIP posts so I won’t go on and on about those again. Quick update though – I found some iridescent beads that match the colors in the sweater perfectly so they are now getting worked in to the neckline!! I’m glad that I’m so excited about that because on the other end of the list is the picnic blanket which I have not touched in a few days. I will finish it though – I WANT to finish it so we can use it! There I think I pep talked myself into getting right on it! Heehee 😀
Let’s see what I did in August!
Crochet projects…… (crickets chirping)
Well, hmmmm now that’s embarrassing…………
I finished the Corset Style Camisole top at the beginning of the month. It technically is an August make, but I started working on it at the end of June I think.
I really enjoyed making this top. I wanted to work a hairpin lace strip into it and came up with the idea to use the vertical rows instead of building it horizontally. This worked out well and also inspired me to have the back lace up which adds a nice sassy element to this top. Plus it is adjustable for a perfect fit.
Recipes and Fantastic Bake Along! …………… (awkward silence)
Apparently even the crickets have left the building.
I do have some good reasons for the lack of yummy cooking posts.
- My oven broke at the end of June or early July. I was in the middle of baking what was going to be the best meatloaf ever made when I heard a loud POP followed by my oven beeping and beeping and beeping. I looked up the Error code and apparently a very expensive part needs to be replaced. The stove top still works and I have a grill but I’m going through some serious flour withdrawal because I can’t bake anything. Hubby and I decided that it would be a better investment in the long run to buy a new oven instead of repairing this one. We are going oven shopping this weekend!! YAAAAAAY!! 😀
- I still have Wednesday Dinner with my son Bill but he has switched to a low carb high protein diet as part of his weightlifting regimen. It’s still an awesome visit every week but grilled chicken and spinach salads are not exactly the most exciting things to do a recipe post about.
September is going to be a super busy month. It is time for Christmas and Holiday crafting!! It’s starting to get cooler out so I’m thinking of ponchos, blankets, sweaters, and all of the beautiful fall yarn colors!!!!
My mother in law has asked me to make a blanket and a shawl so those will be started shortly. My lovely daughter Aimee has asked me to make her a holiday skirt – I’m very very excited to make this because the design she described to me is going to be fun to make. Thanks to Britnee at Turtle Burger Crochet for giving me the idea to make myself an apron and to make a pretty tree skirt for my beat up busted up fake Christmas tree (with 2 cats and 2 dogs a live tree or a nice fake tree are NOT happening).
And then there is a craft fair at my hubby’s Jiu Jitsu studio in October that I would like to make some BJJ (Brazilian Jiu Jitsu) themed items for. I would love to make some mini “Charlie” head keychains!! 😀
Yeah – September is going to be busy busy busy!!
Thanks for reading!!!

Aaaaaaaargh so much to do!! I’m so happy your going oven shopping I’ve missed your baking especially now the new season of British bake off has started lol! Do you find that from September and the rest of the year is busier!? I can’t believe how crammed I am and summer was just okay paced. I don’t like how fall and Christmas are so close because let’s be honest noone gives a shit about the first part of the year with Easter and crap. You’ve got sooooooo much to do!! Okay so I will be eager to see the skirt, and what you wip up for your October stall. Girrrll we both have stalls in October were crochet twins. Happy Thursday!!!

LOL!! I NEED to get my bake on!! The skirt is going to be fun. She said she wants a pencil style Mrs. Claus skirt. I already have a design plan in my head for it. We have lots to do in September and October. I’m pretty excited to get started. But first I need to get the last few summer projects finished. 😀

Thank you Helina! I look forward to writing the end of the month posts. It’s nice to look back at what I’ve accomplished each month and to talk about what I want to do next. 😀

Can’t believe it is almost Christmas crochet time! Wow, we are not in summer anymore are we? I love the doll, you should definitely make those for the craft fair. Oh, and can’t wait to have you back for the Fantastic BAL!

The best thing about Christmas crochet time is that I can use it as an excuse to go buy more yarn! I have a shortage of greens and reds in my stash. The Charlie doll was so much fun to make. I’d like to make some mini-Charlies that could be keychains or Christmas ornaments. I think everyone at the gym would get a kick out of them. 😀
I have missed the BAL so much! It’s still fun to see what everyone else makes and there’s been some awesome recipes this summer. 😀

I love the sound of chirping crickets. So relaxing. 🙂 I do miss having virtual dinners with your family. I wouldn’t mind a little grilled chicken and spinach.

August really was a nice relaxing month for me, crickets and all. As soon as I get a new oven I am going to bake my a$$ off. You are probably going to gain 10 virtual pounds Yolanda so you should get your Thanksgiving pants out so you’ll be ready for it. 😀

You’re very welcome Britnee! The next few months are going to be really busy. I can’t wait to get started. I really need to get these last few summer projects finished. I’m hoping that the skirt design I have in my head comes out right. It might be the next project I start because I’m really excited to make it! 😀

I apparently haven’t commented on this post … and yet … I know I did. I’m sure I did. I’m positive I did.
But … it’s not here so I obviously messed up somewhere (totally like me! lol)
Well … the first comment was the best one, but I’ll try to do something nearly as good…
An incredible post filled with love.
The crochet camisole top is wonderful! I’ve never seen anything like it anywhere else. How clever you are!
The Brazilian Jiu Jitsu items … I think that’s an inspired idea, and I can see those making some money.
And finally … all the orders you’ve got … you’re going to have no fingers left by Christmas. It’s a good job you’ve chosen to go with the old Loo Brush. It probably knows how to decorate itself. LOL.
LOVED this post Tami, and you too.

Dearest Cobs
Thank you so much for visiting me!! I suspect that there is an imp that wanders around the comment sections of blogs. He obviously saw your first comment and thought that it looked so delicious he ate it up!
I get overly ambitious with my holiday crochet ideas and this year seems to be double the amount of crazy. I need to get cracking on it very soon so that my fingers stay intact. It will be too difficult to try to wrap all the lovely presents I want to make if I’ve worn my fingers down to the knuckles!
Have a fantabulous magical weekend dear Cobs!! ❤ ❤ 😀

You too Tami.
Whilst here … I still haven’t heard from Puff … but I’m telling myself that she may have gone on her holibobs, so perhaps we’ll still hear.

Thanks Tina!!!! Don’t you just love this time of year? I get so excited planning my autumn, holiday and winter crochet projects. The Charlie doll was really a big hit at the studio when I first made it. I think everyone will love another Charlie themed item. 😀

You did so much this month, but your plans for the rest of the year are staggering! I hope the oven shopping goes well this weekend, should be a good sale weekend.

We went oven shopping yesterday Kathy! The woman asked what I had in mind and I said that my only requirement was that the oven be in stock so that we could bring it home right now! I ended up getting a very good sale price!!! And now I have a new oven!!!
I think that I’m really going to be pushing myself with my crochet plans for the next few months. Right now I’m in that foolish inspiration stage where I feel like I can do EVERYTHING – now I need to sit down and make some serious lists!!! 😀

Hah! You made me smile. Yes, September is really good for inspiring one to start projects. I’m not sure if it’s the “school starting” feeling leftover from childhood, or if it’s the natural feeling of Autumn being a time to dig in and prepare for the winter. I’ll be interested to see what your projects are! 🙂

You ARE a busy bee!! At least your oven broke in the summer when grilling is probably preferred anyway❤️. Doesn’t your son know that Wednesday’s are a FREE day to eat the good stuff! And last, your honey is so lucky to have a mini me in Crochet! ADORABLE!!

I just got a new oven yesterday!!! They were on sale at Home Depot so honey and I took a ride. I told the nice woman helping us that I wanted to leave the store with a new range. She tried to talk us into free delivery in 3 – 5 days but I said nope – I WANT IT NOW!!! We needed to take it out of the box to fit it into the back of the SUV but we managed it. I just baked a batch of Oatmeal Rasin Cookies!!! 😀 😀 😀

I’m so excited to finally be able to bake again!! I made oatmeal raisin cookies yesterday. 😀 I also sat down and made a list of projects that I want to do before Christmas and it is pretty big, but if I don’t add anything to the list it is doable. Of course I’m probably going to add to the list though. LOL 😀

Crochet busy is VERY good Crystal!! It has been so inspiring to see how the country is pulling together to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey. I’ve experienced many hurricanes in my life but never one as devastating as this one.

You’ve been so busy! Now September is half gone and I’m in a frenzy because I’m so behind with my blog reading 😓 looks like my September goal is going to be to catch up!

I always seem to be getting behind on my reading too! We’ll catch up eventually. 😀 I have so many projects I want to get done before Christmas so I wrote a to do list, but then I started making ponchos which are NOT even on the list!! LOL 😀

😂 I just spent the last 2 h working on a patchwork knitted blanket (which I started at least 5 years ago) that is definitely not on my list of things to do, just because I need it for next week and I actually want to have it finished with a border and all! Life goals 😂

I actually started making my first c2c blanket and I already have plans to make more ponchos – and NONE of those are on my “need to do” list!! 😀 😀 😀 I know you’ll finish your blanket on time and I can’t wait to see it!! 😀
