Another month gone by and another month closer to Christmas. At the beginning of the month I decided to make a master list of crochet projects that I need or want to do for the holidays. The only thing I’ve accomplished so far is writing that list!! 😀
I did a lot of crocheting in October. I just didn’t do anything on my holiday make list. That’s fine there’s still plenty of time. Right?????
October Crochet Treats!!
Jumbo Crochet Bag
My most popular project for the month was the Jumbo Crochet Bag! I loved making this fun bag for a few reasons. The colors were so bright and cheerful. It was impossible not to have fun making this bag. The pattern was super easy. So easy it wasn’t even a pattern at all. I just made a big circle using half double crochet for the bottom then alternated a few rows of double crochet stitches along with a simple chain mesh. The best reason that I loved making this bag is because I sent it as part of a Happy Package to my blogger friend Ricci and she loved it!! 😀
Bright and Fun Crochet Scrubbies
The scrubbies were also part of the Happy Package that I sent to Ricci. I had enough of the Red Heart Scrubby yarn to make a couple for myself too! These were made using a free pattern that I found from Red Heart. I included a link to the written pattern and the video tutorial in my original post – Bright and Fun Scrubbies.
I actually completed two additional crochet projects in October but I haven’t posted them yet. I made a large C2C graphgan blanket for my hubby and I designed another poncho for my daughter. I will be posting those very soon. I was super happy with how both of those projects came out and I can’t wait to share them!
I spent the first 10 days of October dealing with a nasty cold. It took weeks to fully recover. Fortunately I was still able to lift my crochet hook!
Fantastic Bake Along – Chili Chocolate Bread
The Fantastic Bake Along recipe this month was from Tina @ Kristabella’s Hodgepodge for Chocolate Chili Bread. This really was a fantastic recipe. I’m only calling this an October Trick because I accidentally used too much butter and didn’t get a nice rise from my dough. It was super tasty though, just very dense because I messed up. No matter how many times I say it the phrase – too much butter just doesn’t make sense to me. I’m the butter queen when it comes to cooking and baking!!
The last trick of the month happened on Sunday night into Monday morning. We had a wicked storm that was really scary. The wind was howling all night and we could hear trees uprooting and falling in the woods behind my house. We ended up losing electricity just before midnight on Sunday and the power didn’t come back on until around 4:00 am on Tuesday!!!! I was of course crocheting by candle light! 😀
So now it’s time to get serious about my holiday crochet projects!!! I have already started making a shawl for my sister in law. It’s my first time ever using a pineapple stitch pattern and I am really really tempted to keep it for myself. Next up on my list is to crochet a Mrs. Santa skirt for my daughter Aimee. She needs it by the end of the month. I already have the yarn and the design in mind, I just need to get started.
I’m sure I’m not the only one that hasn’t started their holiday projects yet – right????
It’s okay – we have plenty of time! 😀 😀 😀
