The Best Christmas Present!

Happy Holidays to everyone!!!

Wow – the past few months have been so crazy with all of the holiday madness. It’s nice but a little strange to finally have time to relax. I’m still in ‘go go go’ mode and it’s been weird trying to shut it off. 😀

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas.

I received the very very very best Christmas present ever this year.

I’M GOING TO BE A GRANDMA!!!!

My daughter Aimee announced the wonderful news that she is expecting my first grandchild in July – her due date is right around my birthday!!!!

I’m sure many of you know how excited I am with the baby news and I have been going nuts trying to keep it a secret until my daughter made her own official announcement.

I have so much catching up to do with everyone. I have crocheted like crazy for the past few months and have so many projects to share. Since my last post I have made 2 ponchos, 3 blankets, and a shawl!!!

Here’s a sneak peek at two of the holiday blankets I made.

I can’t wait to see what everyone has been up to and get back into the swing of things here. I feel like I’ve been away for so long and I’ve missed you all a lot!

I have a lot of exciting things planned for 2018 – I’m pretty sure that about 90% of those projects will be grandbaby related! LOL

Thanks for reading!!

    • Thanks Tony!! I am deliriously excited about being a grandma. I hope all is well with you – I’ve missed our bloggy chats. 😀
Sadly I did not have enough time to make the ugly Christmas sweaters this year – but now I know that I need to start working on them in July for next year LOL!! Of course I will be crocheting my way through the One Skein Wonders for Babies book in 2018. They aren’t going to find out the gender of the baby so I will need to make a pink and a blue version of everything in the book! 😀 😀 😀

    • Thanks Amanda!!! I am really really excited! It was such a surprise because I thought my daughter wanted to wait at least another year before starting a family. 😀 😀 😀

      • Hi Amanda! I’m so happy to hear that you haven’t given up even though you get frustrated. I have been crocheting for most of my life and I still get frustrated sometimes. It’s really only been the past few years that I’ve really gotten pretty good at it. I found that making a few easy project really boosted my confidence and watching a LOT of YouTube videos helps too. There are some amazing but simple projects that you can make just using basic stitches. The most important thing is to NOT give up even when you get frustrated. I crochet every single day even if it’s just a few stitches or rows. I still worry that some of my projects aren’t very good – I think that’s a risk you take when you create anything. I’m sure the greatest artists in the world think their stuff isn’t very good. I’m sure you are much better than you think you are. 😀 😀 😀

    • Thanks Susan!! It was so hard the past few years to not bug her too much about starting a family. Now I only have to wait until July and I am ridiculously excited!! 😀

  2. Congratulations “Grandma”. I’m happy for you and your daughter. I did have a very nice Christmas. The sound of giggling back in our house when my sister’s kid’s got together and the one girl brought her boyfriend. I have 4 nieces and 1 nephew. 1 niece just graduated, 1 niece is going to college for her Doctorate Degree, 1 niece continues in college and 1 niece will graduate high school soon and my nephew the youngest of all continues high school. Congrats Again.

    • Thanks Yolanda!!! LOL I think I’m going to have to keep a stash of crocheted baby things here at Grandma’s house because I’m sure at some point my daughter’s going to say she has enough. 😀 😀 😀

    • Thank you Emma!!! I am really really happy and excited!! It’s my oldest daughter that is having the baby and it was such a surprise because I thought she was going to wait another year or two!! 😀 😀 😀

      • Maybe she didn’t want the pressure of saying she was trying. It can take quite a while for some people and it would definitely be stressful to have people constantly asking if your pregnant yet 😅 it’s awesome news though, I just can’t imagine how excited you must be! This baby is going to be covered in crochet goodies! 💕

    • Thank you Teresa!! I am crazy excited!! I’ve been so patient the past few years and tried so hard to not bug her about starting a family. It was such a huge surprise because I thought she was going to wait at least another year or two while she was working on getting her master’s degree. I’m so happy she decided not to put it off. 😀 😀 😀

      • Such a wonderful and delightful occasion to look forward to! I can’t wait to live vicariously through you! 😀 I am so very ready for grandchildren, but my children are pretty content with only raising fur babies at the moment…it’s not as fun (not to mention pretty pointless) to crochet booties for German Shepherds!

  6. Playing catch-up – sorry I’m here so late. (I don’t think I’ll be caught up with everyones blog until next Christmas! eeeek! lol)

I’m just THRILLED TO PIECES that you can finally tell everyone. I seriously thought you were going to POP with the excitment which was building up inside your little body. You felt like a bottle of Lemonade (soda) which someone had shook up and you really wanted to explode with the excitement!

Happy days are on their way, Grandma. Or could it be Nanny? Nanna? Granny? Grammy (that’s me!) Gan gan? What? What would you like to be called?

The first time he/she says your chosen ‘title’, … will make your heart explode.

Congratulations Tami. Love you oodles ~ Cobs. xxx

    • Oh Cobs – I don’t think I’m ever going to catch up with anything too! Just when I think I’m caught up something bumps be back to being behind again. Well I suppose it is nice to always have something to do isn’t it? I don’t think I would know what to do with myself if I got all caught up with everything! 😀
As far as what my grandmother name will be it has been unanimously decided by my children that I should be called GramTam! Which I am absolutely thrilled with. 😀 😀 😀
